On a side note, I actually attempted to make this run a couple of times but failed, so I picked up EU4 and now after a few runs of that I feel that game is a LOT easier than CK2. I never got into playing the marriage game of CK2 and fiddling with inheritances, do I need to do that? The viceroyalties mean I can't make a ducal title, and I have no idea how to claim more land after I fill up my demesne limit. I want to play as an Orthodox leader next, but I find playing in the Byzantine empire kind of limiting, much more limiting than playing inside the Abbasids. My second full run was the Hashimid emir of Mecca which I think I abandoned when I had a Shia empire spanning the entire Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe all the way up to Germany. My first memorable run was some Lombard count who eventually became Emperor of Italy with possessions up to the Holy Land. I haven't touched CK2 for a while after playing two full run throughs years ago. Currently, /r/CrusaderKings is operating its seventh communal game.
